Although it may seem like it's beating a dead horse, the socially constructed "acceptable body type" affects both dudes and ladies negatively. While this issue may seem trifling in light of more obvious oppression it still exists within the radical community.Maybe this thread could be a space for everyone to discuss how they feel marginalized due to certain aspects of their bodies? I do not want this thread to become just rants and complaints, but rather as a chance for people to support each other and realize that whether you're "too skinny" or "too fat" or too hairy, etc that everyone has issues and being healthy means accepting all of that.

Sorry this is sort of incoherent, Im sleepy.

i don't feel like i have much to vent about as i've never really known where i stand in this societies spectrum of what's considered attractive. Either way i feel like everyone is navigating pretty tricky waters. Even when someone "knows" they are "attractive" i think they victims of extreme pressure to keep on perfecting. It's fucked. I think i'm atleast somewhat comfortable being like "fuck it" on alot of the issues, it's about the only thing i can do to keep my head above water as far as vanity is concerned.

This might be better placed in general discussion rather than solidarity unless the idea is to discuss solidarity with victims of oppressive body images.

I think having solidarity with ourselves is just as important. this isn't just discussion, it may be therapeutic for us to discuss in an honest and direct way things along this line and that's not just something that's just "general discussion", and it could branch out in to something much more on the exterior

what does "solidarity with ourselves" mean? Showing solidarity generally means supporting other people. Why can't meaningful things be discussed in a general discussion section? I would hope that they are.

i guess, i just thought that general discussion was to discuss things generally and not necessarily on the solidarity tip, and i think that the idea of anarchists supporting one another on things that they take seriously (which is an obvious issue in this case) may be considered solidarity and not general discussion. Maybe a misunderstanding?

I can move it back, but it doesn't seem to be generating much discussion anyway.
