update on pReNC

tonight at the pReNC critical mass the police responded in force. pepper spray, tasers and baton were used. the police here say that twenty arrests were made. everyone that is known about that came from milwaukee is fine and were not arrested. more of a report will come soon to indymedia.

"Around 20 people were arrested today by them police while participating in Critical Mass with the pReNC. Many have been pepper sprayed as well as made and tasers.

Cruisers #993 and #9980 drove into the back of the mass at the corner of LaSalle and Grant and started to arrest a few cyclists. More arrests ensued with police resorting to pepper spraying the crowd and creating a line in which they advanced and arrested those who fell behind.

Badge and car numbers that we know of:
4151 (maced people)
4046 (tazer, excessive force)
956 (tazer, excessive force)
car 999 - pushed into an individual's bike
unmarked car, license plate RVX-707, cop with badge number 6837 - hit an individual

Tasers, pepperspray and mace. As well as one cop attempted to ram and run over a cyclist.

I think most bails were set at 3,000 dollars, but you only have to post or pay 10% of that to get people released. All but 3 or 4 of the 19 have been released so far and i'm not sure what their situation is.

In the future it would be good to have a bank account with ABC local legal support funds to bail people out or pay for lawyers. This will come in handy especially if people from milwaukee get arrested at the RNC (and other actions before and after). So we have some time to prepare and do some fundraisers for this possibility.

the police on friday are trying to intimidate us. we have to let them know that no matter what they do our rage will not be silent. after the mass everyone at the pReNC seems more resolved than before to make sure we give them hell.

When everyone gets back, we should talk about an event(s) to raise money for a legal fund of that sort.

Also if ya'll were comfortable, it would be cool to hear a reportback from the pReNC, for those of us who couldn't make it.

yeah, people who went were planning on doing a report back and organizing a regional consulta for people looking to organize and plan for the RNC.
