"The Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War, which is made up of a number of liberal and socialist organizations, is calling for a weekend planning conference on February 9th in the Twin Cities. At this conference plans for the September 1st (un?)Permitted March will be discussed, debated, and possibly finalized. Actions throughout the week of the RNC will also be discussed. Unsurprisingly the Coalition of liberals and socialists is requiring that anyone attending the conference be a member of a group that has endorsed the March.
Unconventional Action Chicago says: Go To Feb 9th Anti-RNC Organizing Conference
The Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War, which is made up of a number of liberal and socialist organizations, is calling for a weekend planning conference on February 9th in the Twin Cities.
This may come as a surprise to most but Unconventional Action Chicago is encouraging radical groups, collectives, and organizations to consider endorsing the Sept 1st march. If radical organizations endorse the Sept 1st march and have a large presence at the February 9th Conference the possibility that a Statement of Principles being passed is good. The hope is that a Statement of Principles would declare that the undersigned organizations agree to respect a diversity of tactics, will not interfere with others' methods of resistance, and not work with the police. We understand some of the hard feelings felt on both sides of the permitted vs. un-permitted debate but as individuals seeking radical change in society we must put our differences aside and attack the beast of electoral politics with full force. The United States edges closer and closer to an openly fascist state with every terrorism bill that passes. Yet the few of us who do choose to resist are petty enough to allow our organizations and communities to implode by constant infighting. Let's put the passed behind us and stand united on September 1st, 2008.
Unconventional Action Chicago will be attending the Conference and if we have to endorse the march to get into the meetings we will. It is our understanding that members of the Twin Cities anarchist and radical community support us in this effort and are considering attending as well. As for UA Chicago, we will go into the meetings with a friendly demeanor as we truly believe in a diversity of tactics and the Coalition's right to march on September 1st, 2008. We appreciate the Coalition's attempt to create a safe space for families, undocumented workers, and others who cannot risk arrest in standing up to our common enemies. We ask that the Coalition honor the plans of those who may resist by plugging into the 3 tiered strategy, who may or may not participate in the march on September 1st. We see no reason why the Three Tiered strategy devised at the PreNC cannot happen on the same day as and be mutually beneficial with the September 1st March. Should the Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War be unfriendly and unreceptive, which we do not expect, we will strongly encourage them to reconsider and cordially revoke our endorsement.
