AA meetings
We were approached by two people representing AA in the Riverwest area who'd like to use the CCC as a temporary meeting space until they secure a new location in three or four months. They would like to meet every night from 8-10 and are willing to pay $200 but preferably less. They will bring their own tables and chairs as needed and will clean up each night after they are done. Meetings are usually 10-20 people with a maximum of 25. They will be private meetings and do not need to be put on the calendar.
We discussed our terms after they left, decided to ask for $200 and access to the CCC five nights a week, and came up with a list of questions:
-Can we cut back to 5 nights a week to leave weekends open for us to use?
-Will it be a problem for people to still use the basement for screenprinting during those hours?
-Would they be able to have a representative at our meetings once a month?
-If they are not willing to give up weekends, can they have earlier meetings during the day?
We still haven't figured out what to do about giving them access to a key somehow. Someone is going to call them to discuss all of this before they come to the next meeting on Tuesday.
Screenprinting open days
Thursdays and Fridays 3-7 will probably work the best. We need to do a lot of reorganizing to make things and SPACE more accessible. Paint and other materials will be stored in the back corner near the kitchen once it is clean.
The first introductory to screenprinting meeting will be on Thursday, September 13th at 5pm. Each prospective member of the screenprinting collective will be required to take the class to familiarize themselves with the space and setup, regardless of experience. There will be a monthly fee, as everyone using the space will be expected to contribute and help keep it open. Half will go to rent, half will go to materials. Someone suggested the idea of having a sliding scale based on hours of usage but that has yet to be worked out.
Items screenprinted during training classes will be donated to the CCC. Everyone should have to sign a sign-in sheet so that people can be held responsible for any problems or accidents that occur while they are there. The initial dues may change once the collective really gets up and running. People must clean up after themselves.
IWW
They have not paid rent since March and the amount of space their desk takes up is inconvenient to the way we would like to reorganize. They haven't gotten back to us about their rent being raised from $25 to $75. It has been reportedly been discussed with no conclusion reached. We need a decision or they might lose their corner of space.
Open hours and volunteer shifts
We don't really want to shorten hours. The volunteer coordinator will follow up on prospective volunteers to double up for shifts, especially during colder weather. It shouldn't be too big of a problem and hopefully more people will be interested once we really get things together.
Infoshop
Crimethinc. books have been ordered. We are waiting to hear back from other publishers about discounts. We also have lists of zines we'd like to buy but it depends on what kind of a discount we can get. Maybe we can get donations from publishers as well. We realized that there is more to talk about so there is going to be an infoshop meeting on Monday, September 10th.
Very public meeting
Saturday, September 15th at 6 pm. We'd like to flier west of Holton this time, in addition to the east side and Bay View. We need to ask someone about their copy card for making these fliers.
Other events
Chili cook-off on Sunday, September 16th at 6pm. Mmm.
